Andrew and Maria Long

Dearest Larry, Melinda, Angelo, Teresa, Angelo Jr, Christine, Joseph, Joel, and family:

We are extremely sorry for your loss. We are trusting in Jesus to give you comfort and peace as you mourn.

Mrs. Schiavo epitamized the word 'love'. Love was the greatest commandment Jesus gave, and Mrs. Schiavo did just that. I have never met someone who showed it more, and my wife and I are all the richer for it.

She made us good, solid meals many, many times. "Sit", she'd say. "You must eat. I make a meal. Don't say no." She'd share rich stories of winding roads in Italy, intrigue in S. Philly, and peacefulness in Folsom - always funny, but with equal seriousness too, and all with an excited 'twinkle' in her eye and big smile. The twinkle and smile meant as much as the meals, because they were 100% genuine. Will truly never forget that twinkle and smile.

I will also never forget the boundless, endless energy she had. Sometimes after a snow, I would try to get over there early in the morning to shovel, but many times she'd have it done already! If I wanted to get her to accept my deed, I'd have to do it between 2-4am, any later and it was done already. One time when we got 30 inches she let me shovel some, but only if I accepted a meal and the 7 courses she made for us to take home that fed us all week!

In warmer weather we'd stop over. She could often be found working in her yard (when she wasn't zoomin around in her baby blue metalic custom Scion with T-top down!!!). Her back yard was truly a haven, peaceful as all, and she had scaped it all. The flowers and bushes smelled and looked great, and the birds chirped like nowhere else. Yes, they knew where they were welcome. And so did we.

As she got up in age a little, and maybe had a health bump here or there, we would encourage her, but she'd deflect it and encourage or uplift us instead. She never stopped encouraging. She truly cared about my wife and I. They weren't just 'the motions' or 'empty words'. Mrs. Schiavo would talk as long as you wanted. She would talk all night if you needed or wanted to. She could keep it simple, light, happy, but she could also talk deeply about many subjects. We enjoyed talking about the Bible. She had quite a knowledge of it, and it impressed me much.
But what impressed me most was her truly authentic, genuine kindness and 'love' that she truly lived.

Mrs. Schiavo, Maria and I so look forward to the day we see you in Heaven. Jesus was so good to us to allow us to have known you and been a friend. Can't believe you have passed in body, but know your soul dances with Pat (Pasquale) and Jesus tonite and every night. And how pretty and beautiful you are. Thank you Pina (you always told us not to call you Mrs. Schiavo). You were so, so 'good' to us.
Sincerely, Andrew & Maria Long
